Obituary

Esther Pearl Ferry, "Pearl", age 100, of Coopersburg, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown. She was born July 28, 1921 in Spring Valley, the daughter of the late Calvin E. and Linnie M. (Eisenhart) Gaither.

Pearl attended Hellertown High School and later earned her G.E.D. She was the jack of all trades, working as a waitress, housekeeper, and caterer for a great part of her life. She participated in many activities including being a Brownie Troop and Girl Scout leader in Hellertown, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Coopersburg Fire Company, a lifetime honorary member of the Spring Valley Sportsmen's Club, an active member of the Coopersburg Senior Community Center, and a dedicated member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Bethlehem. Along with all the work and activities she did, she was also a full time wife and mother. She was the most generous, caring, and loving person her family could ask for. She was known for her homemade pies and coordinating many games for her family and friends. Her favorite games were crossword puzzles and cryptoquote.

Pearl is survived by her three daughters, Lois E. (Thomas) Marchetto of GA, Patricia A. (Kenneth) Yost of PA, and Jane E. Ferry of FL; daughter-in-law, Helene Ferry of NH; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in 2000 by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Joseph B. Ferry, Sr.; two sons, Joseph B. Ferry, Jr. and Michael D. Ferry; two brothers, William L. Gaither and Calvin C. Gaither; and sister, Dorothy M. Shelly.
