Obituary

Emil Carl Poeltl. Born Allentown, PA November 30, 1917 Died Landrum, SC August 26, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Poeltl. Emil Poeltl was employed by Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 38 years, retiring in 1981 as a Metallographic Researcher in the Research Center. He attended Muhlenberg College studying accounting and was a member of the Delta Theta Fraternity. He also attended the Bethlehem Business College where he studied accounting and 4 years at Penn State for Metallurgy. Emil was Financial Secretary and Treasurer for 50 years with the Workmen's Benefit Fund. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, Calvary Council #528 where he was a 4th degree Knight. He also held an Honorary Degree at the Fullerton Fire Company. Mr. Poeltl was a communicant at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Emil will be greatly missed by his family, friends and colleagues and fellow Knights Survivors: He is survived by his two daughters, Anita Strahs, Greer, SC, who was with him at the time of his passing. Her husband Thomas, two grandsons, Eric and Ryan and three Great-Grandchildren, Karl, Lucy and Ryan Jessica. Daughter: Claire Pish, of Fayetteville, PA. Her husband Al and one grandson, Michael. Two nephews, Jack and Joel Hoffner of Bethlehem, PA. Services: A viewing will be held on Wednesday August 31 starting at 9Am to be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM both will be at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Allentown. www.weberfuneralhomes.com Contributions: To the American Heart and/or Parkinson's Disease Association or to a hospice organization of ones choice.
