Elsie A. Kovacs, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown. She was born November 8, 1930 in Allentown, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (David) Kovacs.

Elsie graduated in the Class of 1952 from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing. After graduating as a Registered Nurse, she worked for 33 years in the medical-surgical and oncology departments at Sacred Heart Hospital; many of those years as head nurse. She then worked for nine years as a nurse at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, before retiring in 1996.

Elsie was a lifelong member of St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church in Allentown, where she often volunteered for parish events. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe. In retirement, she regularly attended gatherings with her fellow retired nurses. She will be remembered for her generosity to her family and for the many years of devoted care she provided to her elderly sister.

Elsie was the last of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her sister, Rose Kovacs; and her four brothers, Joseph, John, Rev. Louis, and Julius Kovacs. She is survived by her nephews and nieces.

Professional Services are entrusted to Weber Funeral Homes in Allentown. A Public Viewing will be held Friday, January 20, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. until the Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:30 A.M. all at St. Stephen of Hungary Parish, 510 Union St, Allentown, PA 18102. Interment will be private.
