Obituary

Elizabeth Vajda, of Center Valley, passed away on May 24, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 77. Born on December 2, 1935 in Ratot, Vas. M. Hungary, she was the daughter of Imre and Franciska (Fuisz) Nemeth. After the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, she fled her home to escape communism and came to America as a refugee with her parents and sister, Anna (Nemeth) Torok.
She celebrated 34 years of marriage with her husband, Stephen, before he passed in November of 1992. Although both Stephen and Elizabeth came to America with nothing and didn't even speak English, they cherished the freedom and opportunities that America offered them. They often held more than one full-time job at the same time, tirelessly working to provide their family with everything that they could. Elizabeth was proud on becoming a United States citizen in 1967.
Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and greatly valued being so. She was known for her beautiful home and garden and for her outstanding cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed having her family together for dinner, spending time with her pet cockatiel, Toby, and playing the slots at Atlantic City. She was formerly a member of the Philadelphia and Vicinity Hungarian Sports Club (Magyar Tanya). She was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son, Stephen, at home, and her daughter Suzanne, wife of Robert McQuillan, of Allentown, and a grandson, Tyler McQuillan. Grandchildren, Dustin McQuillan and wife, Stephanie, and their son, Mason, and Amber (McQuillan) Spence and husband Wes, and their daughter, Madi. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Torok and husband Stephen, and their children, Erika (Torok) Thee, husband Nick, and family and Charles Torok and wife Bernadine, and family.
