IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eleanor J.
Robinson
September 11, 1930 – May 4, 2025
Eleanor Jane Robinson passed away on May 4, 2025, at the age of 94. Eleanor was born on
September 11, 1930, in Eglon, West Virginia to Carrie Sophia (Fike) Judy and Ray Cecil Judy.
Eleanor grew up in Eglon, West Virginia, where her father owned the town's general store and a
small farm. In 1950, while working with Brethren Volunteer Services, Eleanor met her future
husband, Rev. Dr. Donald L. Robinson, another dedicated volunteer from Johnstown, PA. They
were married on June 7, 1952. Together, they raised three children, John, Jane and Jim.
Eleanor earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater,
Virginia. She taught school in Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania. She taught 1st grade at the
Amanda Stout Elementary School in Reading, PA for 25 years, retiring in June of 1993. Eleanor
was very active in the lives of her children, volunteering on the Wilson School District Parent
Teacher Association (PTA) and serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother. With her family, she
designed & built the Robin Hill Campground in Lenhartsville, PA.
Eleanor was the consummate Minister's Wife at the Wyomissing Church of the Brethren, where
she taught Sunday School, sang in the Church Choir, directed the Children's Choir, taught
Vacation Bible School and played an integral part in her husband's role as Minister of the
Church for over 30 years. The Pennsylvania State Sunday School Association recently gave
Eleanor an award for more than 50 years of service. She was a long-time member of the
Church's Coffee, Crafts and Chatter (CCC) social group. She was a fabulous cook and loved to
host Church dinners and parties. Her Christmas cookie extravaganza was legendary.
Throughout her life, Eleanor has lovingly enriched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Eleanor and her husband Don shared a love for travel and adventure, working part-time for 25
years as group travel agents for Singer Travel. They took groups of people on journeys around
the world, visiting all 50 states and 106 different countries and creating memories that would last
a lifetime.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Dr. Donald L. Robinson, with whom she shared
71 years of marriage. Eleanor is survived by her children, John (Cathy) in Wyomissing, PA,
Jane (Bruce) in Harrisonburg, VA, Jim (Rachel) in Portland Oregon and her cherished
grandchildren, Kristin, Emily, Jason, Rosemary, Joshua, Tim, Megan and Ben. She was blessed
with eleven wonderful great-grandchildren: Rylee, Adelia, Jameson, Silas, Keegan, Caverly,
Jasper, Ramona, Saylor, Mira and Aiden.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Wyomissing Church of the Brethren on
