Edward J. Moditch, 88, of Allentown passed away peacefully in his home on August 19, 2017. Born in Bath, he was the son of the late Morris and Julia (Gyori) Moditch. Edward was the companion of Dolores Hassick for 23 years before her passing in 2014.
He was employed by Pabst/ Stroh/ Schaefer Brewery for 22 years before retiring. Prior to that he had worked for Frank and Stessel where he was president of the local union. Edward served his country honorably during the Korean War in the U.S. Army 138th Engineer Combat Battalion. After training as a drill instructor and an instructor in mine warfare at Fort Leonard Wood, he was assigned as an instructor at Fort Leonard Wood's Chemical, Biological and Radiological School.
He enjoyed nature and wildlife, traveling with Dolores, having breakfast with his friends and attending his granddaughter's piano recitals. Edward was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his son Michael, daughter-in-law Inessa and granddaughter Kristina, a world-class pianist.
Survivors include: son Michael, daughter-in-law Inessa Romm and granddaughter Kristina of Moscow, Russia; sister Barb North of Coplay; brother Albert and sister-in-law Bonnie Moditch of Florida; sister-in-law Betty Moditch of Slatington. He was predeceased by sisters: Dorothy Fritzinger, Lillian Manner, Carolyn Moditch, and brother Morris Moditch Jr.
