Edward J. Gunkel, 94, of Allentown passed away on, Thursday September 7th, 2017. He was born in Lehighton on June 12, 1923 to the late, Alvin and Caroline (Wist) Gunkel.

Edward was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. He retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1986 after 20 yrs of employment. His hobbies included, painting and stamp collecting.

Survivors; daughters, Donna Gunkel of Allentown and Mary Maguire and husband John of Whitehall; son, David Gunkel of Oklahoma; grandson, Eric Cattano and great-granddaughter Mackenzie Cattano both of Allentown; sisters, Margaret Lusch and Elsie Stettler and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Alvin and Caroline Gunkel; brothers, George, Frank, Alvin, and Joseph; sisters, Martha, Anna, Josephine and Julia and his companion Gwen Owens.

Visitation will be held, Monday, September 11, 2017 at 1:00PM until the time of Service at 2:00PM both at Weber Funeral Home: 1619 Hamilton Street Allentown PA. Interment will follow.
