Dorothy M. Yapsuga, 99, formerly of Whitehall, died March 23, 2015 at Emeritus Senior Living, Allentown. Born in Wilkes-Barre in 1916, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Caroline (Kochuba) Stroinski. She graduated from Meyers High School in Wilkes-Barre. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph J. Yapsuga for 52 years until his death in 1994. Together they raised their family in West Point, NY until Joseph retired from the service and they moved to Whitehall. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Allentown. Dorothy was employed by McCrory's Dept. Stores and the Homemaker Services of Lehigh County. She enjoyed baking and cooking but Dorothy's greatest asset was that she lived the golden rule and without knowing it, she inspired all who met her. Throughout the latter half of her life Dorothy courageously battled various life threatening cancers with great dignity. The family thanks the staff at Emeritus Senior Living as well as mom's Doctors; Robert Kovacs and Thomas Koch. Thanks also to the countless good Samaritans who routinely and gladly assisted mom while she shopped and took public transportation. Dorothy was predeceased by three brothers, Steven, Felix, and Henry Stroh, and a sister, Mary Daniels.
