Donald M. Roden Sr. Age 92 of Lancaster, passed away on August 16, 2017. He was born in Lancaster on April 28, 1925 to the late Charles and Edna (Ambrose) Roden. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan (Allwein) Roden.
Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp and served during World War II as a tail gunner, seeing action in the China Burma India Theater and receiving 2 Bronze Stars. Upon his return he went on to receive his GED from McCaskey High School, attended Cal Aero Tech, and went on to work for the United States Postal Service . He also worked at Cream Top and Penn Dairies before his retirement from Lancaster Laundry and Lancaster county government.
SURVIVORS: Four sons, Donald M. Roden Jr. and his wife Paulette of Lancaster, Ronald M. Roden Sr., and his wife Jo of Lancaster, Terry L. Roden and his wife Naomi of Sunbury, Ted J. Roden and his wife Lynn of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Bette J. Oberle and her husband Christopher of Lititz, Sherrie Shaub of Mount Joy; one sister, Goldie Frankenfield of North Carolina; thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Including his wife, Joan Roden and parents, Charles and Edna Roden, Donald was predeceased by his siblings, Raymond Roden, Betty Rapp, June Rothweiler, Edna Roden and Mildred Roden.
