Carl R. Shankweiler
Carl R. Shankweiler, 82, formerly of Allentown, died February 25, 2009 at the DevonHouse, Salisbury. He was the husband of the late Elsie A. (Gmoser) Shankweiler for 53 years until her death in 2001. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Frank and Ellamanda (Hunsberger) Shankweiler. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Allentown. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a self employed carpet installer for over 22 years until retiring in 1989. He was predeceased by five brothers and one sister.
Survivors: Daughter, Bonnie, wife of William Riemer of Whitehall; Son, Carl J., husband of Debra of Bradenton, FL; Companion, Elizabeth Arnold; Grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Dana, and Mathew; Great Granddaughter, Hanna; and a step-Great granddaughter, Casey.
