Obituary

Barry Glass, 82, of Whitehall, PA, passed away suddenly on the evening of Monday, September 9th, 2024, at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg campus. Born in 1941 in Allentown, PA, Barry was the son of Isadore (Izzy) Glass and Claire Glass. He was a 1959 graduate of Allentown High School. Upon graduating, Barry enlisted in the United States Air force where he served at Robins Airforce Base in Georgia and elsewhere for four years, leaving the Air Force as an A2C, Airman 2nd Class. It was at this base in Georgia where Barry met his first wife, Johnnie Glass, who sadly passed away of illness in 1991 after nearly 30 years of marriage. Upon leaving the Air Force in 1962, Barry began working as a production worker for Mack Trucks where he held numerous positions over his long career, which he retired from in 1994. He was very involved with the auto workers union and served as a union representative for a number of years.

Barry was a huge fan of his beloved Philadelphia Eagles, who he rooted for since he was a child. He loved to travel the United States and visited nearly all of the states in the country during his many travels. In 1995, Barry married his second wife, Brenda Glass (Bachert), who was a longtime friend of both Barry and Johnnie. The two would have been married for 30 years this coming June. It was with Brenda that Barry purchased a second home in Florida and they began splitting their time between Ruskin, FL and Whitehall PA for nearly 20 years.

Barry is survived by his wife, Brenda Glass, his step-daughter Diana Nowotarski, his three step-sons Andy Tobia, Tom Tobia and Ed Tobia, his grand-daughter Nicole Tobia and her son Caydence and daughter Scarlet. There will be a small service for immediate family at the Cedar Hill Memorial Park where he will be laid to rest. Barry was loved dearly by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
