Barbara J. (Layton) Kovacs, "Cookie", age 85, a resident of Whitehall Manor, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Lehigh Valley Hospital. She was born March 5, 1937 in Allentown, the daughter of the late John F. and Lillian E. (Kalbach) Layton. She was the widow of the late Frank J. Kovacs, Jr.

Barbara graduated in the Class of 1955 from Allen High School.

She is survived by her son, Michael Kovacs of Whitehall; daughter, Sally Gehringer of Allentown; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, James (Marjorie) Layton of Allentown, Bruce (Sharon) Layton of FL, and Edward (Darlene) Layton of MA; sister, Iris (Joseph) Unger of Whitehall; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Gary Kovacs; a great-grandson; four brothers; and four sisters.

Professional Services are entrusted to Weber Funeral Homes, P.C. in Allentown. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, 1700 Airport Rd, Allentown, PA 18109.
