Olenwine
January 26, 1923 – September 2, 2018
Arlene G. (Reichard) Olenwine, 95, passed away September 2 nd , at the Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest. Born in Macungie, she was the daughter of the late Earl L. and Mary (Kneedler) Reichard. Her professional career began when she was employed by Dun and Bradstreet before graduating in 1941 from William Allen High School. After working for over 45 years with various companies, she retired from Nazareth Mutual Insurance with 20 years of service. She met the love of her life Harold R. Olenwine, while in high school and was married on October 3, 1943 in Rhodes General Hospital Chapel in Utica, New York. Her husband served in WWII as a medic in the United States Army Medical Corp in the South Pacific. They were married for 68 years raising two children whose accomplishments they took great pride in celebrating. Building a new home in Coplay, Pa upon retirement, they enjoyed traveling, serving the community as volunteers for Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County, attending church services at St. John's U.C.C. church in Nazareth, and spending time with friends and family. After Harold passed away in 2011, Arlene became a member of the Neffs U.C.C. Church. She continued to live in the home that they had built in Coplay until 2015. Arlene then moved to Fellowship Community in Whitehall, Pa and enjoyed new friends and connections well into her 90's. She will always be remembered as a caring person who tried to do the right thing, as an equal partner in a successful, loving marriage, and as someone who helped others while trying to remain positive and pleasant. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Frances M. Wirth Survivors: son Dennis L. Olenwine and wife Nancy of Easley, SC; daughter Debra J. Olenwine Sanek, wife of Frederick C. Sanek of Schnecksville; two step-grandchildren, Kelly and Jim; nieces and nephews. Services: a viewing will be held on Friday September 7 th starting at 10:00AM to be followed by a service at 11:00AM. Both will be held at the Zentz Community Center at Fellowship Community, 3000 Fellowship Drive in Whitehall, Pa. A graveside service will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Contributions: Can be made in lieu of flowers in Arlene's name to the American Heart Association.
