Obituary

Allen T. Walp, of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, died peacefully in September at his home following declining health of several months. He was 96 years old.

Allen was born on May 22, 1930, the son of Silas and Josephine (Horn) Walp, of Drums, Pennsylvania, one of the couple's seven children. He attended Browns Grove School and West Hazleton High School, where he played varsity football and baseball.

He married Virginia Luchi in 1950. The couple settled in Drums and had a daughter Pamela and a son Jeffrey. Allen was an accomplished master carpenter, working construction projects throughout Northeast Pennsylvania.

The family moved to Coopersburg in 1980 when Allen took on the work of Christian missions and counseling at Pinebrook Junior College, along with supervision of the college's property maintenance, until his retirement in 1992.

Allen's faith was central to all he did. He served as a Deacon at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church in Coopersburg and was long involved as teacher and mentor in the church's Bible ministry. He was well-known for his faith and for encouraging everyone he met to find Christ.

Allen was predeceased by wife Virginia and son Jeffrey, and is survived by his daughter Pamela and son-in-law David Rybarczyk of South Carolina; by his sisters, Nancy and Eileen; and brother Glenn.

Interment was by private service. A celebration of Allen's life is to be arranged.

Memorial gifts in Allen's name may be made to the Calvary Bible Fellowship missions.
